    Question Grey Wire From Exhaust

I Have a 99 Polaris SLTH 700 twin carb. There is a grey colored or maybe white colored wire coming from the exhaust area which is sitting right next to a small bolt that screws in. I don't know what the bolt is for because it doesn't fasten anything to the motor. The grey wire comes out of the exhaust and goes into the electrical box through a hole along with the small black ground wire coming from the battery. So I'm sure that the grey wire is a ground also. but what does it go to. I can't find anything in any manual or wiring diagram.
    THANKS

That should be for the tempature sensor.

    where is the temp sensor

wiring diagram shows tan wire from MFP to temp sensor. I guess grey wire grounds temp sensor?

that is just the heat sensor pushes into a pluged hole on the exh manifold and when it get 2 hot -it grounds=hot=rpm limit

OK makes sense but do you know where the wire coming out of the exhaust hooks up to in the electrical box. It has a connector that would hook to the circuit board. Could I just clip the end and hook it to a known ground.

I think it goes to the MFD. The engine was ripped out of it so that would explain why its not connected. Can't remember but maybe I ran it into the box.
    THANKS

the way those things work is they have no ground UNTIL the sensor gets hot enough to let the spring inside contact the block(ground)-
that goes to the circuit board then cdi/and or mfd thru main harness
but that grey wire will be all on its own in the engine bay
