Youll here LOTS of different opinions. I personally break in on the "Run it like it will the rest of its life" theory. Now I am not saying go out and run it to the moon on the first run. Get to temperature, give it a good few pulls and let off for a little. Repeat. I was always skeptical but was recently installed a new engine in a John Deere excavator at work, we where told to run it hard from the begining. 3 months in now and it gets beat to hell 20 hours a day (None stop two back to back shifts). Still going, all clean oil samples and strong as hell.

no! thats a diesel engine. These are two stroke engines. Just like car engines compression is everything. You need to at least go through two tanks of fuel at no more then half throttle.

if you want compression, you need to seat the rings, so running some hard pulls & easing off the throttle is one way of achieving it in some peoples opinion...
