    Stxr stinger mod??

    I keep hearing about the stinger mod for a stxr/ultra 150. I know what the stinger is but, what exactly has to be done to it?

    It currently has :

    Skat track pump and impeller
    Adjustable sponsons
    R&d rideplate and intake grate.
    Prok flame aressters

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    The stock stinger is blocked off and a new one is drilled into the pipe. Then they put a Jetworks valve in between the new fitting and the supply line. The valve limits water from entering into the stinger below a certain RPM. That way the waterbox doesn't fill up while idling and allows for better take off.

    Make sense?

    Are you running proks with no carb mods?

    Yes, the reason being that it cuts the water off below 3k rpm. That keeps it from filling the water box up as you idle arround. This way it doesnt have to push all that water out when you get on the gas, gives a quicker hole shot.

    yes the carbs are changed
    -170 main jet
    -2 washers to the top of each needle slide(r&D)
    -choke fly has been removed and primer kit installed.

    Still not as fast as a stock ultra 150(yet)

    I figured it had to do with drying out the water box. Just wanted to make sure. Any1 have a pic of the stinger mod??

    Put an R&D plate, sponsons, and Skat impeller and take on an Ultra 150 in 3ft plus chop and see what happens with an STXR.

    I think I could handle myself in a race Not stock but I can still hold my own in the chop

    No you couldn't trust me. I'm not knocking you its just the hull. I've had 2 Ultra 150's both modded and NEITHER would run with the STXR I had with just basically what I mentioned bone stock motor. The STXR GPS'd 64ish all day and the Ultra's 1 was at 70 the other at 68 with all handling mods too. The STXR was the ski I raced cc also in 06 and I've seen the same also in cc, an Ultra just can't handle chop, period. Don't get me wrong, my Ultra's I had with 2 people on them in smooth water would run away from the STXR but don't get to the chop, it gets very very ugly.

    I agree that the Ultra is no hero in chop but I can hold 64 in the rough. The only real problem would be how long the race is. A body can can only take a beating like that for so long.
