Pump ride plate and shoe 98 XPL

OK I pulled my 98 XPL pump off the ride plate and the intake grate to reseal because of cavitation. I am looking to seal anything I can to make sure it doesnt happen again. Is there an easy way to pull the plate off the hull and seal? Is that considered the shoe? What help can you give me to seal all that crap up? I assume scrape all the old sealer off put the grate on first then the ride plate then the pump? Ultra black on everything? I noticed some clear silicone on the grate. I also noticed they sealed the ride plate with 1 sided foam tape, Is ultra black better for this? I just want to make sure I get all my bases covered and not waste time putting it back together.

The foam tape can blow out, causing your cavitation. I ran a bead of "The Right Stuff" there and used it on all other areas too. It's thicker that Ultra Black, easier to work, and sets quicker.

The Right Stuff, is that automotive or Home Depot kind of stuff, where can I get it? I will be sealing her up tonight and tomorrow. I did find I should have let the Ultra Black sit longer it blew most of it out of where the pump seals against the hull. I just want to do this last time and not have to mess with it again for a while. Any other suggestions on sealing possible spots? Like I said I pulled the ride plate the intake grate and the pump. I am looking at possibly pulling the plate that holds the pump to the hull (I call it a shoe that may be wrong) and seal that as well. Someone told me due to lack of sealer from the factory they where known to leak as well.

automotive or industrial. I notice my local HD does not carry it.

Good luck pulling the shoe.. That's on there!

Seal around the shoe yes, where the shoe meets the tunnel yes, all along the rideplate yes, when you re-install the intake, all those little areas, yes.

AutoZone carries it, it's a Permatex product too. In a squeeze-cheese can...
