    GPR making some weird noise

Man, here I go again with this thing. Ski was running great. Mike was over helping me out with the final setup of the head. I went to start it up and it just sound gawd awful. It seems like when it idles, it just rattles and makes this weird noise, but when you give it gas, it all clears up and it runs smooth. It didn't do it before, anybody have any ideas?

Have you had the pump off recently ???

Mine used to do that when the splines on the pump shaft got too dry.(where it goes into the intermediate shaft)

Is the rattling from with in the engine, or from with in the hull???

If it's the latter check for a lose exhaust bolt. When you give it throtle it smoths out and may not as bug an issue.

Idol can be rough and may be the cause...

Okay, now we are getting somewhere. I had to loosen the pipe bracket bolts and the two bolts down at the bottom and then the bracket that goes in the front of the head. I torqued everything down to 22 lbs. using a torque wrench, I do it manually something usually breaks, hahaha. So what are the bolts suppose to be bolted down to? Such a newby question, but hey, got to learn from somewhere right?
So I guess the mounting bracket (2) that go on the head and bolt to the pipe, don't know that torque, but they are torqued to 22lbs?
the two bolts down behind the motor by where the pipe and waterbox connect, thats 22 lbs?
the only other bolts would be the pipe to head bracket. I had to use spacers to get it even because the riva heads are much shorter that the stockers. But I bolted those down to 22 lbs.???
Do I have these torque specs right? I torqued the head bolts down to 22 lbs. also.

I got to get off subject here and say the correct way is to get 22 lbs. is to get your 22lb kid to stand on the wrench.

You need to go to my site and download the manual. Everything is in there.

Hahahaha, the only way I can get a 22lb kid is to go find one, no kids here and don't want any. My only other kid is my dog, but he's 120 lb rottie, don't think that will work.
Yes, I got your manual, I downloaded it a while back and forgot about it. You da man, thank you for posting the manual up. I will go check it out and make sure I have it all torqued right.
    Thanks again guys, Merry Christmas.

well hate to say it, but that didn't solve the problem. Even when you give it gas, it clears up, but you can hear a slight hint of the rattling. Its in the motor. It sounds like I may have a broken DF3 reed, but not sure. I guess I'll take it in to my buds and have him listen to it. Just doesn't sound right.

Pull the heads before you crank it again.
