    Welcome to the Hulk!

You can find the 1992-1998 Polaris Service Manual here.
Download it, and save it to your computer.

First up - you cannot check a battery with a battery charger. The battery must be tested under load.

Put a multi-meter on the battery posts, and check the DC voltage WHILE the engine is cranking (or trying to crank). Voltage must be at least 10.6 volts while cranking, and 11.0 volts or higher is better.

If the voltage during cranking is below 10.6 volts, you need a new battery. Recharging an internally weakened battery will not make it good. Sealed AGM type batteries are the best, such as the East-Penn Deka ETX16L.

If the battery is good, and the engine still does not crank, then check whether you can turn it over by hand. Remove the cover over the drive shaft coupler (right behind the engine), and try to turn the coupler by hand. It should turn with just modest resistance. Take the spark plugs out to make it easier to turn.

Let us know what you find out.

What is the battery voltage when you are pressing the start button?

IF you cannot turn the drive shaft with your hand with the plugs out, you got issues.

    1) Stuck bendix
    2) stuck pump
    3) stuck piston
    4) thrown bearings

    I would:

    1) undo the 4 bolts that hold the center section of the pump together and pull the pump back

try to turn the drive shaft

    2) Pull spark plugs and look for debris on piston crown with mini flash lite

    3) pull heads and look for damage. If you threw the crank bearing, or pistons, you will see it very clearly

The battery reads 7.6 when pushing the start button. took the battery to the battery shop today, they checked it and charged and said that it was good. I have 1 yr free replacement.

I bought a new AGM battery, charged on 2amp charge until full. when I push the starter button I hear a click coming from the motor. Also am not able to turn the driveshaft by hand.

You will want to do what seaobin said. Pull the pump and see if you can turn the engine over. Then go from there.

At the risk of sounding dumb, where is the pump? 1st time with jet skis and only a backyard mechanic.

The pump assy. is the black component at the rear of the ski. It looks like the 1st 2 pic's, and goes where the red arrow is pointing in the 3rd pic.
The blue arrows point to the location of where the bolts go that you need to pull to remove the pump assy.
