    Head Skim

    Can anyone tell me what i can skim of my 05 1300 head and still keep it reliable?
    What gains would this have ?


    Stock exhaust
    Bolt on mods.

    That was a topic on another thread...I personally dont have the specs on a stock head. I have heard you can take .025 off and be safe.

    Seen that thread i think that was a 1200 wasnt to sure if the 1300 was different.
    I take it same goes then no matter how much you mill of you must check the squish first and keep it the same after milling?

    The squish is the clearance...small squish=less piston to head clearance=more compression. Take your readings, then factor how much squish you want, then mill away!

    Thanks WFO is there a tolerence of how small a squish you can go to?(before impact)

    If you want relialability and performance, most rec heads run you at 145-150 PSI compression. You need to talk to an engine builder to get their recommendation on how much to mill. There are a few builders on this forum. LHorning, Group K, Island Racing, TJ-RACE, ect
