    Mod's lead to more repairs

Well... just got back from the river to get some numbers after doing several mod's... very happy with the results! RPM's down a bit, little more bending on the prop to do... no problem there. However... on my last gps run at WOT... boom!!!! huge vibration... shit... o.k. just sucked something up in the pump, first thought... although I was in a very clean river Lucky to be close to the ramp, I idled in to pull the ski out to take a look... with a flash light looking in from the rear I couldn't see anything but a trashed wear ring 10 hrs. max on this ring! On the initial look from the front... didn't see anything in the pump either Then noticed my solas aluminum nose cone let loose around the o-ring groove... half of it is gone! As light as that thing is I couldn't believe how much vibration this caused, even at low RPM Of course this is what trashed my wear ring... haven't pulled the pump yet to inspect the impeller However... I'm glad it happend now and not after installing the extended pump kit with the stainless wear ring ( if it's ever released???) This leads to my question... that I'm sure has been talked about many times Running without a nose cone I know alot of people run without them... any compromises??? I run in the "salt" alot as well. Thanks in advance for your thoughts
