How To: Race Engineering OPAS RXP/RXP-X Block-Off Install

I installed the RE's this past weekend. I made the directions in .pdf and Word format because I figured it would be easier to print and take out to the garage when it's time for install.

    Review:

I will admit I am very skeptical of various mods. In the past, whether if be my car or past skis, I have installed upgraded parts and they have not performed as advertised. It's always a big letdown.

So going into the RE install I was not expecting the ski to be a noticeable difference like everyone on here has claimed. After the RE install I put the ski in the water and drove around the marina to check for leaks. Thankfully there were none.

I took the ski out the following day. There was a very decent sized chop, but it wasn't as bad as the previous day. Keep in mind the day prior many boats got swapped and took on water, and some even sank. The Rangers were out all night rescuing people.

So I am idling out of the marina (.56 miles). I was hoping the $335 I spent on the RE's would be worth it. Low speed turning is not effected that much. Maybe 10% to 15%. As soon as I got out of the marina and hit the throttle, I knew these things were going to be better then awesome. You could just "feel it". I headed out of Callville Bay and made a sweeping right turn around the point and aimed into the swells. The RXP turned into a whole different animal. A night and day difference would not describe how well the RE's performed. I turned around and went back to the marina. I called my mom and dad and told them this was bar none the best money I have ever spent on a modification for my ski, car, paintball gun, computer, Go-Ped, and ect. The ski just saying planted better and the ski becomes a lot more predictable all around.

So in conclusion, the RE's performed better than advertised. If you don't have RE's on your ski, you are at a very big disadvantage.

What made you go RE over Riva?

I assume your stage one included sponsons (didn't note them on your pics) and intake grate... have you played around with an R&D grate since it has the better chop reputation? Sounds like you see some chop.

    Thanks for an excellent write-up....

I just opened the PDF file and reviewed your write-up - Great job.

I also read your review and am happy to hear that the RE Blockoffs performed as good as others have reported.

Thanks again for the great write-up and review.

I just installed mine last week and I agree completely. The handling is more predictable and seems a little more nimble. It is even a lot easier to maneuver in reverse.

    Great all around mod!

Instead of the RE blockoffs, I chose to go with the ME B/Os (you know, made by ME) Glad to hear you're pleased with yours!

The Riva Stage I does not include their sponsons. I went with the RE's over the Rivas because they extend to the rear of the hull unlike the Rivas.
