    V-Force 3 reed life-got chips?

This set has developed a crack on the very corner of ONE petal. The missing piece does not uncover the port. There is no burning on the petal or on the cage. There was no power loss. Ski hauls major butt. Crack was found on routine inspection during a manifold/carb change.

    -10 hours.
    -Rear cylinder
    -Riva intake
    -Novi carbs
    -Triple pipe
    -7800 rpms WOT
    -165psi compression

...if you have any questions, and need me to look at something, ask fast.

These babies go back into the ski tonight.

Wouldn't it be better to replace that petal before you put them back in?

    Yeah,
but replace them with what? Why not just run the piss out of it, and see how long she goes instead? I'm not skeered.

No TJ, sorry it doesn't help. I've yet to understand why I could run any reed I wanted in a Polaris for 400 plus hours, and still look brand new. However in a Yami 66V engine, the stock ones will chip at 5 hours, burn the tips at 10 hours, and eat themselves before 100. Add triple pipes, and forget about any type of life out of stock reeds. Spacers only delay the damage. Now, with these reeds and spacer combo, I was hoping for at least 50 hours before damage. With a minor chip at 10ish hours, I wouldn't take bets on 50 yet.
