Engine noise help
My recently rebuilt gp1200r is giving off a ticking noise. It's not a rattle, not a bang.. it's a tick like it had a bad valve train. Power is there, compression is good RPMs are spot on. Carb related? VF3 reeds? Power valves? Crank?
And ideas or help is appreciated. Thanks

does it go away or get worse when you rev it up ?

Probably the pistons. The more clearance the louder it will be. A lot of the 1390's make this noise becasue of the extra clearance required for the 87 mm pistons. Mine makes the same ticking noise and everything was inspected and perfect!

It speeds up when I rev it up... It's not there when I first fire it up (or is too slight to hear) but stays about the same (or gets quieter when I ride it) I have one of those C sized jugs with a B size ProX piston.. Piston Slap? Compression is good and I am turning about 7180 RPMS
