    Timing ?

I just tried to start my `05 RXP since the flywheel and head gasket change. My starter is grinding and motor is jumping. Won`t start. How do I check timing and do I need to pull the PTO cover again? Can I do this with the motor in the hull? I also swapped to all solid mounts and aligned motor. Installed new ss wear ring. Could it be in bind?

#3 cylinder at TDC then loosen the 3 cam bolts set the cam with the locking pin in place and then rotate the cam gear back and forth in the slots until u have the TWO marks on the plastic cam gear cover even with the top of the head! if they wont align u r a tooth of which ever way its angled! good luck! after i loosen the bolts to move the cam gear i take the intake grate off lay a rag over the drive shaft and attach some vice grips! u should be able to align the marks on the cam gear cover with the top of the head no problem if u r on the correct tooth of the gear! good luck!
