best way to ride through choppy water

Well I had my first run through real choppy water yesterday and today I feel like I've been hit by a bus. For those of you with VTS do you guys find it rides better through choppy water with the the jet down or up. Also what GPS unit would you guys recomend as where I ride everything looks the same and its easy to get lost.

As far as trim setting... whatever feels comfortable to you! GPS... look no further than a garmin product

The faster the better..Trim up to keep the nose high and gas it.. old motorcross trick---> faster you go through the woops, the smoother it feels.

EDIT- you let off when the ski comes unhooked!!!!!

Unhooked is when the water intake comes out of the water therefor "unhooking" and causing your motor to free spin.

Unhooked is when your ski comes outta the water. you dont want to be on the trottle wide open when that happens. Feather the throttle, as is let off half way or so.

As for riding in the chop I guess sea doo is different..I wouldnt think that VTS up would be the thing to do. That's gonna cause you to porpoise more! I'd think you would want the nose down to bust thru the chop and stay hooked. If your coming unhooked, you'll be running pretty slow.

If you are in choppy water alot, trade up to an Ultra 250........

Then just pin the throttle and hold the F%^& on..........

On my RXT-X i run thru chop with the trim down below half somewhere.
I learned that trick from the washing machine of Lake Lewisville from AKA Rideallday.
Body postion is the other half to be able to ride thru chop trimed down and still keeping the nose up.
You have to find the best body position which takes some trying and error.
You also need some good arm strength to hang on and some balls to know it is all going to be ok.
