    Snapped bolt.

I snapped a CatCon housing bolt while removing. Do you guys normally use heat when removing the 271 Loctited bolts? I will be doing my other boat soon so maybe I need to heat to remove those bolts? Maybe it was just that one in a thousand unlucky bolt?

Try and EZ-Out. Maybe put some direct heat on the bolt before you try to back it out. The extreme heat should break down the thread locker a bit...

Try a left handed drill bit. The idea is when the bit breaks through the end of the bolt, it will grab and unscrew the remaining portion. I personally dont heat up the bolts. Sometimes if one looks as if it wont come out, tap lightly on the head of the bolt to try to release the threads.

If the bolt wont come out, put an insert in it. You dont want to break a ezout off in there. Most use heli-coil...but check out the time serts

    they are the shit!!!

NO...not at all. The time sert is not a coil like the heli-coil, it is a solid insert. More expensive too.

Oh, that meaning of "shit". It's got so many meanings. I buggered up the threads because I wasn't patient enough to wait till I could get a good easy-out so I had to end up putting in a thread insert. I used HeliCoil brand cause that's what the auto parts store had.
