    951 wont get over 2000 rpms

    Purchasing a gsx limited tommorow super cheap, guy says he had it running put it away for the winter, took it out the next year and it wouldnt run over 2000 rpms. he put it away and hasnt touched it in 2 years. says the engien is fine... where would you start if you were purchasing this machine. electrical or carbs?

    compression, spark plug/ wires, fuel system, exhaust restriction, electrical

    in that order

    Can you imagine stealing this ski for cheap because the guy before wasnt mechanically inclined and didnt realize it had a fouled plug LOL

    Thanks in advance guys, going to pick it up now, its about an hour away from me, but for $400 with a trailer, its worth that alone in parts

    Check compression first it's prolly blown up,Thanks in advance from your local shade tree mechanic

    well i noticed one thing when i got it...the sparks plugs in it are B8ES....... this might just be a simple fuel tank cleanout and putting in the proper BR8Es plugs... pics to come

    pay close attention to the fuel seperator if it has black crap in it,replace the fuel lines AND clean the carbs

    hmmm are there any fuses on this machine, im used to 800's so the 951 is all new to me. i found a few wires melted together, prolly from boosting the battery, ill have to look into this more.

    Sounds like the carbs are all gummed up and clogged, clean them out, change out the fuel lines and gas tank and you should be good to go!!!!
