Thread: What will FIT??

  1. #1

    Question What will FIT??

Does anyone know what carb i can use in place of my Keihin on my 1996 polaris slt 700.

i think that the one i have now is a two cylinder 38mm Keihin.

i have a funny feeling that my fuel pump is not working. ( when i pull the throttle there is no gas squirting into the carbs....when i first got it there was.) and i would like to replace the whole thing if not too expensive.

i was looking at the keihin websites and they did not help me attol with the prices or models numbers.

because of this i would like to go with a different company...one that is more reliable and easy to contact
one that shows all there products and accessories along with prices.

please any info would be great.
    darren

That would be the accelerator pump, not the main fuel pump.

    What are the symptoms?

Does the engine run at all with the current carb?

The two cylinder Polaris engine is considered one of the most full efficient PWC engines around. I suspect the OEM carb is part of the reason.

You may be able to find another identical carb (in good working condition) from a parted out Polaris twin. There would be no issues with re-calibrating a different brand carburetor to your engine, and it would bolt right in.

no the craft doesnt run at all with this carb all it does is crank. but no start.

how could do a test on wether its the accel pump or main?

The Keihin carb is a very good carb.I think Keihin would rather not deal with the general public,Parts can be bought online from PWC sellers.

Your SLT700 should have 2 carbs( has 1 fuel pump mounted to the rear carb) If the accel pump does not squirt, you may not be getting fuel into the carb. Both carbs have a screen in side, very simple to take apart and inspect. In 96 there is an inline fuel filter after the water seperator. Is there fuel in the seperator?

You shouldn't have to replace the carbs unless they are corroded or physically broken.

You could send the carbs to Randy at Watcon to be rebuilt.
