Question FX HO oil warning light coming on if I stop and start fast..

I just got this ski back together. Per instructions I checked oil pump and all looked fine.
Day 1 all is great. I ride around for hours.
Day 2 go for 30 mile cruse.

Almost at end of the cruse, I came off plane and then gunned it. It surged and oil warning came on.

Turned off engine. Checked everything. All ok.
Start motor, all ok, cruse back at 30 MPH all ok

Come off plane and then start back up, engine surges and oil warning.

    repeat....
Everytime I stop fast and then start I get a oil warning.

When up on plane everything is great.

Washed ski, Oil warning came on for a second and then I turned off and on and all is ok.

Anyway, I got back home, and ski is out of water. What should I check? What would make oil warning come on when I slow down ski and then take off??

    Mike

did you check the oil level when the light came on
you may be low on oil
or there may be other issues

Sure does sound like a low oil situation.
Kev will confirm as he has one, but from memory 1/2 way up the dip stick when it's a cold engine.
Otherwise if the oils okay off to your Yamaha dealer and have them put it on the diagnostic system to look for any major problems.

Yes, I checked the oil. It is 1/4 inch from the top. I have plenty of hot good looking oil when I check.

Gossie realy needs to be checked when it's hot as the oil can drain back into the motor when it's been siting for a while

Rxpmike if the level is OK when you check you need to get a pressure reading
and make sure it has good presure
from what i have read there is an oil line in the motor that can come loose
giving a drop in presure above about 5,000rpm
it could also be as simple as a loose elecrical conection or a faulty sensor

    Check the grate and pump.

I changed the oil as recommended by Yamaha to 20/50. I even filled it 1/4" over the top. I checked the connections.

I started it on the trailor with the hose. While I don't want to overrev the new engine, It can get way up(8000 rpm) there on the trailer and it runs fine.

I can put it in the water and it idles fine. I can get up on plane if I advance slowly.
If I gun it in the water, the oil emergency light comes on.

The oil is new, there are no visible leaks. If I rev it oil should be forced into the pump.

    Any ideas?
Im looking for a next step?
Should I replace the oil pressure sensor?

How could it be the grate?

    I thought Yamaha recommends 10/30 ??

1/4 over the top is too much if checked without a 15 minute warmup.

How could it be the grate?
When grate is clogged it will send warning light on letting you know your not getting enough water up. Happens to me when I get off plane in low tide swamps.
