    Question Need help A G A I N !!!!

    Shoot, I gone about a month with no problems!!!! But its back to the same ol' thing. I just went and got gas this morning and put it in. I took out my 01 gp1200r and it was running ok at about half speed and as soon as I would give it gas it would bog out. I just rode it for about 10 mins trying to work it out and it finally started running right. it was riding good for about 5 mins and I let someone else ride it and it was riding ok for a few minutes, then it starting running really ruff. It will not get above 4K rpms and will not go faster than 10mph. I started playing with the choke and it finally got on a plane and was going about 25mph. I put it on the lift and started it up and I pulled the throttle and then it wouldnt slow down!!! It was going about 5K rpms, so I pulled the lanyard out and nothing!!! Its still running!! I didnt know what to do but after about 7 seconds it turned off. I let it sit for a few minutes and hooked up the flusher and started it up. It would idle at about 1200rpms and then go up to like 2400rpms. Then it would just go back and forth. Staying at each stage for about 3 seconds. And about every 5 seconds there was like a poping sound [kinda like the piston was hitting the head or something(dont know)]. What is going on????!!!!!!

    pull the plugs and take some pics....
    how bout a comp. test too....
    1/2 vote for leaking head gasket...
    1/2 vote carbs need to be rebuilt...
    there's 2 cents from the shadetree guy..
    the GOOD help will be by soon

    Ive rebuilt the carbs twice in the past 4 months
    I know this is a dumb question bud can it have bad oil? its premixed. The oil was lookin kinda iffy when I put it in.

    why have you re built the carbs twice just asking to get the bigger picture

    The 1st guy didnt do it quite right. He broke some seals and didnt even put all the parts in it. So I had to order another set of rebuilt kits and had someone else re-do them. I sent over $300 in rebuilt kits in about a month. Should had just boughten new carbs.

    i dont think you can be 100% sure the carbs are right unless you get a carb god to take a look @ them before you go any further,

    i understand your frustration with building them over again but carbs would have been my first guess,and keyzbum may be on the fence with his 50/50 split carbs or head gasket but for me its carbs as you have had nothing but trouble with them so far

    step away from the ski

    compression test first! and look at plugs.

    check plug boots, make sure stud on the exhaust has not backed out and touches the plug boot

    What is the boot plug? What stud on exhaust?
