    Lighting issue!

Hey guys, I was on my way home from Kent Narrows today on the Chesapeake Bay and notice that my brake lights, turnsignals were not working on my drivers side. I then went to west marine and picked up two new bulbs, put them in and all worked again when I left. I checked them with the main lights off. While I was driving it was getting dark so I turned on my headlights, and about 10 minutes later I see a cop behind me with his lights on....Long story short I get pulled over and he tells me that my drivers side brake light and tail light do not work!!!!! I showed him the recipt that I just replaced bulbs not even an hour ago and he DID leave me off with a warning. But now that I am home I have looked over the connections and everything and just can not figure out why the drivers side brake lights, turnsignals, 4wways do not work when the Headlights are on compaired to when they are off!!! Thanks in advance for the help!!! SORRY IF THIS WAS COVERED!! I am in a hurry to get this fixed because I leave tomorrow night for work and I am taking my skis for my off time!!!

Im thinking you have a bad ground on that socket. It might look good but all it needs is a little corosion and it will give you a lot of trouble. I would either replace the hole light kit or take it apart and clean all the connections. Hope it helps

yes you can start there. but on the light itself the bolts that mount it to the frame is how it gets the ground ( I think this could be your problem, that why I think it might be best to just change it out)

My best luck has been to run a seperate ground wire from the light up to the front ground connection and buy the heat shrink connecters to seal all posibble wires from getting any water on them as long as you have sealed lights? If you don't understand I will take a pic of mine to show you! If so send me a PM Thanks Lee

Check the fuses on you tow rig too, I had a similar problem and it wound up being a fuse(back in the water with the lights plugged in)

What are you using to convert the separate turn/brake light signals on your Toyota to combined Turn/Brake lights on your trailer?
(I've had the 10 dollar Wall-Marst specials crap out on me twice in a day).

On my Avalanche it was in the fuse box under the hood(I assume since the Z71a include the hitch and wiring they fused them separately to save the vehicle lights) I don't even know how many or where Toyota would have their fuse boxes.
