2004-2005 VTS controlled Weedless intake grate? Trim??

Check out what I found when looking through the service manual. It appears to be some sort of electronically adjustable intake grate! Then in the 2005 manual its called "trim" but still uses the same action.

Check out the hinged intake grates, controlled by VTS motors. Very interesting! Does anyone have this system on their boat? I was unable to find a control for it though, is this handled by the ECU? what is its point? easy cleanout?

I was under the impression these boats didn't have trim?

yeah on most jet drive boats the intake grates lower so you can clear out weeds and stuff without getting wet, basic idea of a boat is to not get

I have it on my 2006 Utopia. Never used it though. Don't believe I would run this boat in a lake full of weeds.
