    SLX780 blown

I was riding the ski this past weekend, and after riding for about an hour, the engine died down, was pretty much no more than idle, I turned toward shore and the engine siezed. I pulled the plugs and the plug closet to the back of the ski looked to have been hit by the piston. I pulled the head and cylinder and the piston came out with the sleeve. If I wanted to rebuild the ski myself, does anyone have an approx cost for that, and parts source and does anyone recommend a source for an engine replacement?

Cheapest, quickest way to fix is probably contact John Zigler, see if he's got another 780 motor.

I went that route with a 750 motor when my crank ate itself on the 650. I priced out having the crank repaired by Sharps, and even with used parts to convert it to a 750, it was within $100 to just get another motor from John.

hey, i know that guy!!! ( thanks mike )

i DO just happen, to have a complete, clean, freshwater, low hour, 96 SL 780 here, i "could" pull apart if you are interestd in a short block. as of right now, this is a runnig ski. you could come over tomorrow, and take it for a spin. motor has good compression on all three cyls. the ski has just under 70 hrs on it.

BE SURE to determine what killed your motor, and FIX the problem before running a new motor.

give me an email, or call the shop during the week, if i can help out.

    thank you.
