    Engine Hydraulic Locked

    Rebuilt a 1992 SLX650. Bored cylinders .50 oversize, put in new pistons and rings. Started it up, started Ok, took onto water, ran for about 15 minutes and then quit. Couldn't get any spark. Took compression and 1 & 3 were 145 lbs. Middle cylinder low.Took to repair shop and they
    removed head and found piston cracked across complete surface. They told me the engine had hydralic locked.
    Any ideas as to how this could happen. Ski was not tipped but somehow water entered engine.

    sounds like either head gaskets, water bar gasket and or base gasket could be bad.. or you have a cracked case. 92s and 93s had the cooling go thru the cases and if the ski wasn't winterized right the case was proned to cracking

    Pressurize the cooling system with that piston down, remove the spark plug and see if you can see where the water enters the cylinder using a long necked flashlight.

    don't the fujis have water surrounding the exhaust port in three places???i though they were bad about cracking and those pieces falling off

    The absolute fist I have EVER heard about this, and I live my life reading aimless ramblings on the internet....

    Jmule's cracked case sounded pretty ominous, I hope it's not that!
