PWC DEPTHFINDERS (ANYONE EVER USED ONE??)

I see that the overtons catalog is selling the depth finder for pwx, but has anyone ever used this sort of thing?

How would it bolt on / and would it have to hang below the bottom of the boat to work? I just didn't want to get it if it has to hang below the bottom of the ride plate - but it would be cool to have for some of the places that i go.

I heard some of the Honda Aquatrax guys had problems using the transducer in the "shoot thru" position due to the way their hull is constructed.

John just get you a 15 foot stick and mark it every 6 inches and slow down and stick it in the water. Anything more than 15 feet is to deep to measure anyhow.

I mounted mine this way as I removed the plastic covers on my FX Cruiser bars for a better look ... pic below (hopefully) !

Garmin 178c with external transducer mounted inboard near pump tunnel ..reads depth at 50mph and down to 1.5ish feet.

Can split screen to half depth finder, half chart plotter !!

Where I ride we have heaps of islands and long waterways. Average day out with the boys can be 70 mile trip.

Its on a Cruiser not a GP so is not too bad to have a sounder on board !!!

Anthony, where does the depth "stick" go on the boat?? Is that something that hangs down by the ride plate?? Nice Install on there!

I've tried to fit the hawkeye depth finder to a GP and failed as there is not an area big enough at the rear of the ski that it single skinned. Basically you can glue the trasponder on the inside of the ski if the hull is single skinned. On the GPs this area is very small and not big enough. Should be OK on XLT, FXs etc though.
