    New wear Ring is different

This is my 2nd wear ring I am installingand its different than the stock and 1st replacement ring.

The material seems lighter(cheaper?) the outside edges are rounded and the inside of the ring is grooved...

All the things I have heard and seen on the site are about replacing the ring when it gets grooves in it...so now why are they pre-grooved?

They changed..Much harder to install, good trick Enginner Mike taught me was to put the wear ring on the floor and beat your pump into your wear ring.

I haven't had any problems with the install before.. The freezer method works great. New ring is in the freezer as we speak

As Alex stated. I am sure you will find the new style wear ring is harder to install. They fit tighter.

The new ring is RIDICULOUS!!! another case of F..ing up something that worked! And you can bet when you try to remove it you will probably have to cut it out instead of just freezing it and pulling it out by hand.

I'd like to know if the new ring is what Seadoo is installing in the new ski's or if this is something Riva is producing

It lasts a lot longer than previous rings because it is tighter and stays round longer. The ring is the new OEM. Throw the ring in the freezer, get a 2x4 and beat it in with a 5lb mallet. I had to remove the prop and cut the old one out with a sawzall. And your not going to pull it by hand.

This is true. This has been said many times about the new wear rings. I think Shibby was the first one to tell us this. I remember a few of us getting some of the New Old Stock from wherever possible, I purchased my last few from Parker when I had the GTX.
Another way to look at it: is BRP wants you to bring the ski to the shop for wear ring changes. The newer wear rings are designed to be Pressed in and there is a fixture tool for that as well. We knew this was coming...
