    Anybody had to replace creased f.pump check valves twice?

    Has anyone had to replace creased fuel pump check valves twice? Is this just a problem from the factory, or is it a reoccuring one? I have the symptoms in my '04 XLT, and am contemplating going to an external pump/fuel separator instead of replacing the check valves due to the pain of pulling the carbs. I'd like it to be a one time deal. Yes, I know you have to pull them to do the kit, but then you are done with that.

    On the same subject, I know that hydrolocking can cause the creased valves, but what are the other causes? My buddys '04 XLT has the same thing, and neither boats ever been wet inside to cause it from that. Are maybe some installed wrong from the factory(unside down) or something like that?

    I have had a lot of carbs go across my bench and creased fuel pump check valves is not a common issue in the I-Body carbs. The couple that I have seen have been the #2 carb. Excess pressure causes them to crease, this can be from the return being plugged or the internal filter getting clogged. I would check these and consider opening the returns and running an inline restrictor. Also did you replace with genuine Mikuni parts?

    I haven't replaced them yet, because I wanted to get more info. I'm considering installing an external pump like my GPR has if it will be more reliable in the long run.
