1999 Seadoo SPX
Were these skis in any way mechanically different from the 96 XP? Better parts, more reliable, etc?
Aside from the 95.5 XP and 96 XP, I think the 99 SPX is one of the most desirable X4 ski's ever made (although the 97-98 SPX's were said to be the lightest of any of the X4 hulls). I'd love to find one but those things are pretty rare.

Mechanically, 99's had a c/b shaft plug for oil/water access, depending on what's in there... They also had accelerator pump carbs to meet tighter emissions. They also incorporated the RFI plastic pump if memory serves me correctly. Different ignition too. No speed gains over previous models though. I agree they are the best looking...too bad they didn't make an all black hull like the 2000XP.
I think someone is blowing smoke on the weight differences between the years.
