RIVA vs. PROTEC top loader GP grate's
After installing the new Riva trim tabs on the GP760, I'm in the mist of reevaluating the set up of the GP hull... what does the old school group know of the two above mentioned grates..I have both with the Protec being the grate I'm using now ... it has the same basic lines as the Riva but additional wings (the ride here can be pretty choppy at time's)..
Did I read some where that the protec wings have a tendency to overstuff the pump???
IMT, That my next step is to bolt up the riva and recheck, but wished to hear of some others findings...
set up....Riva's 97' tabs,gp 1200 watercross plate (longer that O/E 97's with 1#.056 washer front, 3#.056 washers rear) Protec '760' top loader, SS impeller....

Wings cut off my pro-tec yielded more speed.

thanks Bill! so an overstuff could be an issue then with the Protec and a change over to try the Riva may be called for...
Went out today for a quick test with more shim's on the plate .. added another washer to the front (2 at .056 each) and the back (6 at .056 each)... that brings the front down smack dead level with the grate's end and the back down a bit more .. ride improved ,but need to drop it in the lake for a speed run (manatee season puts a speed limit on the river)
Will try some more testing monday..

went with 7 (.056)washers rear ,2 (.056)front!! not quite the 1/2 as I've read but this Watercross plate may sit different than an R&D's...

I am actually going to try the R&D grate in mine... Once I finally get around to ordering it.
