do pump support fins have any purpose

Have 4 out of 8 are broken off will this hurt ski

Mine were broken (rocks sucked up), I filed them down, replaced wrecked prop with Solas 14/19, and wear ring. RXP ran OK (maybe a little sluggish out of the hole) for about a half hour. Then it revs like crazy but goes no wear. I'm now replacing wear ring (again) and jet pump support.

Those "shark teeth" are designed to assist the flow of water into the pump. The RXP is the first ski to use them. So if you lose them, I don't think it is a big deal. But it might be a good idea to smooth out any jagged edges to prevent cavitation.

jpw, what mods do you have on your ski? Might be time for a stainless steel wear ring.

My RXP is stock except for Solas 14/19 that I think might be carving up wear ring.

Franko is right the stator vanes are there to straighten the swirl from the prop to get a straight flow through the venturi nozzle.

I think you need the stator vane fins intact!

Are we talking about the stator veins inside the pump or those "shark teeth" attached to the hull in the pump intake area. I was talking about the "shark teeth". The SC's did not have them at all, so I think they are just an upgrade rather than a necessity. Now, if the become jagged, that could lead to cavitation. I could be wrong though.
