    Hour meter?

Just picked up a digital hour meter for 25bucks and want to hook it up ,what wire should I connect to it says it draws 2 watts ,I was thinkin maybe the fuel pump wire something that powers up when it is started not just the key in ? I'm gonna take a picture and put it on and thec site ,its nice and fits right in the the 2" hole on the cluster.
