    99 xl1200ltd - another problem -arrrggghhh

We have a pair of 99 xl 1200 ltd's that we bought with blown motors. With the great information and help of Greenhulk members we thought we finally had both skis running again. My ski is finally singing - sealed the shoe and put on new intake grate - no cavitation and I am happy! Ski jumps out of the hole and flies.

We put the skis in Sunday to start breaking in the motor on my husband's ski. Everything is great, motor seems strong, no issues. We are about 10 minutes into our 2nd 30 minute ride - no more than 1/2 throttle. Husband is giving it some gas moving up to 1/2 throttle when it went "BAM" and the "whhhrrrrrrrrrrr". Engine was still running but it wasn't going anywhere. We assumed something broke in the drive shaft/pump area.

Took ski home and tried to take off ride plate. Three of the bolts were spinning. So after reading on GH we figured out how to remove. Husband took everything apart and this is picture of what is broke. My questions are:

    1. What is it? What parts do we need to replace - is it one piece or several?

    2. Would it be ok to buy used? What skis and years might be compatible?

    3. Why did this happen, just a fluke and wear and tear OR did we perhaps do something wrong in installing motor?

    4. I have read a lot about changing the mounting brackets for the rideplates for GPs and that they make aftermarket ones or to buy later model OEMs - but what about the xll's - do they make ones to change out?

Thanks so much for everyones help! We would be in way over our heads without this site.

    i am pretty sure this is a 99xl 2000xl - 2000-2001 gpr.

get the numebrs off the side and I should be able to compare to what I have.

I did a quick search for your part and this seems to match up. If I am correct it's a part of your jet unit. Not carved in stone but based on your pic this is what looks to match.

    hope it helps
