SX-R 800 2004 to 2008
Can any Kawi guru's please help. Are there any significant changes between the years 2004 to 2008 for the SX-R 800's. If someone could list the main changes, I'd really appreciate it.

To be honest, I worked on an 07 SX-R 800 and found the top speed to not be really that big of a difference between it and my old 92 650 SX. The only difference between the two from that much time span is Kawi did away with the oil injection and made them pre-mix. Other than that I really don't see/feel much difference. Keep in mind those are completely stock machines I have been on. Anything to mod them will certainly make huge differences. My old 650 did 42mph...the 800 did about 46. To me...it's not that significant.

I asked the question about the 2004 to 2008 really only to understand if a later model is a better option (put number of hours on the engine aside).
I assume the changes are really minimal/cosmetic between those years?

I would assume so yeah...the reson I mentioned the 650SX as a comparison is that if it's engine power or handling differences you're curious about...overall from 92 through to now there really isn't much if any from what I noticed. The 800 I was running last year was an 07. I'm willing to bet the only changes you would see from 04 to now are decals.
