What's a good substitute for "SeaDoo Jet Pump Synthetic Polyolester Oil 75w90 GL5"?

The repair manual says to ONLY use "SeaDoo Jet Pump Synthetic Polyolester Oil 75w90 GL5". Is that basically just gear lube? Can I just use Royal Purple Marine 75w90? I have a enough left over from when I changed the outdrive lube in my boat.

Most any hypoid gear oil will work in the pump. If you choose not to use the BRP OE stuff then consider using a fully synthetic automotive type gear oil (75W/90 or 75W140). Better yet, synthetic lower unit oil is a little better because it contains a dye that turns white in the presense of water.

You can use the Royal purple marine oil that you have left.

I use the Mobil 1 75/90 fully synthetic available at any auto parts and have had no problems

do the newer models use the same gear oil? like 06 rxp and up?

During 1995-99 a couple of my friends that I raced CC with used Amsoil 2 stroke oil in the pump.Eventualy I tried it and did not have any problems with any sort of bearing wear or failure.
Keep in mind that we were constantly swapping props (changing the oil).
2 stroke oil was always on hand.
Not having that awful smell to deal with was also a bonus.
Then the Scat Trac magnum pump came on the scene,(sealed bearings)(if I remember correctly No Oil in the pump)
If I were you I would use a good syn. gear oil.
(although I still use AMSOIL 2 Stroke oil,with no problems)
