The 1200 grate gives you a good holeshot and slightly to no cavitation depending on how much power you have.
the 800 grate is roughly 1.5-2 mph faster but produces cavitation on the bottom end. You just can't nail it.
The advanced search feature of this forum has alot of information on it if you do a search.
Also to clear up any misconceptions, using a 1200 grate does not cause you to lose mph vs. the 800 grate.
The 800 grate is faster due to ramp and scoop design.

On a stock boat running a 1200 grate you loose around .3 tenths.
On a mid to high 70 mph ski you lose around .8 to 1 mph. Over 80 mph and you start to loose over 1 mph. When you are close to 85 mph you loose a full 2mph and start loosing around 40 peak rpms, do to more water being stuff into the pump. The results could very on a conversion ski or even how the ski is proped. But the faster you go, the more speed the 1200 grate will take off.

I have a SS Grate that I purchased but have not mounted. All bolts are untouched. I will sell it for $225 plus whatever the shipping is.
I will also put it in the classifieds.
