    Metal Pump Upgrade Questions

My performance upgrade on a '02 NA 155 will be to install a metal pump housing and get away from this damn flexing thing. On a NA 4-Tec, can someone give me the laydown on what is interchangable and what is not?

Is the shaft the same? Bearings? I have noticed no snap ring, so that is different. I know I need a black wear ring. Any help is appreciated.

Here you go. Hope it helps. But I thought that only the '03s had the plastic pump. Is that plastic pump in your '02 the original?... Ron

Yep, it is original. Flexin all over the place. Thanks for the document. The pump housing I purchased is a 267 000 046. Not even on this list. When I do a where used search at Bombardier, it is not there. The old bearing is too small, so I am assuming it is the newer large bearing and shaft. Guess I will need both.

black wear rings only fit in plastic pumps

white wear rings go in metal pumps

your 02 pump.... did it have brass veins in it, or plastic veins? from what i've seen, most if not all 02 pumps were plastic housings with a pressed in brass stator vein section

The veins were SS in 02. That is what they appear to be. They are not brass. There must be a 155 wear ring and a 159 wear ring for the GTX and RXP. The impeller sizes for the older 155 pumps appear to be the same for a GTX SC in 2004. I am not sure if the impeller shaft threads are the same or not. Can I use my old impeller on this new pump housing, or not?

PPG replaced my '03 plastic pump with an '04 aluminum pump and reused my stock 155-mm impeller. The 159-mm impeller need the larger RXP/RXT shaft... Ron

I think the wear ring is thicker. Based on the doucment you sent me the shaft is the same on all. Threads must be the same on the impeller. I just need to get a new shaft and sleeve to get going along with a pump repair kit. Wow - more than I thought to convert.

When Valdy from PPG sent me the document, he said that there were very few common parts between the plastic & metal pumps... Ron
