    Got the GT32 turbo installed

As some of you know, I have been in the process of upgrading my 25 year old T3 60 trim turbo to a new Garrett GT32. I completed the conversion and took it out today, complete with a brand new Skat 15.5/23 prop. Yes, the Budget Bomber is getting more expensive. My total in mod's is around $2500 now.

The good news is that it had some promising results. I hit the gas for a couple of short spurts. With 4 bars of fuel, on the seat leaning over the bars, trimmed down, on it for just a few seconds, I hit 80 mph at 7800. I'm able to turn this tall prop the same rpm I turned the 15.5/21.5 with the old turbo at the same boost level and 82 mph. I think it's safe to say there's more in it.

I ran into problems, so I had to cut testing short unfortunately. See other thread.

I'll post some pics of the new setup tonight. The downpipe is jacketed now, which will be better for heat control.

The GT30R and GT3071R are both ball bearing turbos, which cost an extra $500 or so over the GT32. Both have smaller turbines than the GT32, but larger compressors. Based on the difference in spool between the GT32 and T3 60, I believe I'd lean toward the GT3071R if you're willing to spend the extra cash over the GT32.

No I'm technologically challenged. I'll describe it though. Remove everything from your j-pipe back, and that's what it sounds like... until you let off. Then it sounds like a jet engine sneezing.

    gt32

i see the gt32 isnt a watercooled housing either. Does it matter that much
if its fully jacketed just looking for more was going to do 2rude but to upgrade with new bearings & shims it will be about the same to go turbo being a fabricator by trade it isnt a big deal to build

I have yet to find a turbo with a jacketed turbine housing available to us.
