    SLHX 1050 to 1200 Swap

Have a '98 SLHX complete minus the engine.

Acquired a 1200 Virage engine from a local dealer as NOS.

With respect to swapping the 1200 in for the 1050, can the SLHX/1050 wire harness that's in the ski be used with the 1200 e-box and engine?

Don't currently have an e-box and will need one soon.

    Thanks all.

1200 and 1050 motors are the same on the outside, as far as installing in the hull.

Electrical harness should be no problem, as long as you have the electrical stator for the 1200 engine. Other than the stator, there are very few electrical connections on a Polaris 2-stroke carbureted motor.

Do you need the entire electrical box, or just the CDI ignition module?

Well, the 1050 e-box is there, but not being a super huge Poo guy I wasn't sure anything inside would work. I assumed the whole thing would need to be changed out for a 1200 specific one.

I suppose anything that would be required to be swapped into the 1050 box would be reuqired. Is the CDI the only different part e-box wise?

    thanks for the quick reply!

    super huge Poo guy?

Does your 1200 engine come with the electrical stator and flywheel? Any idea what year the NOS 1200 motor is?

The CDI needs to match the motor, but there was an 'update kit' for the pre-2000 engines, which involved a matching CDI+stator to correct some reliability issues with the older versions.

The ignition coils may be the same. You can check on the Polaris parts cross reference web site.

The other bits in the '98 1050 electrical box are probably the same, or close enough, to work with a 1200 motor.

You may need a different jet pump impeller to match the higher power of the 1200 engine.

Do you have the exhaust manifold from the 1050?

    pipe

the 1050 stuff will work, check the carbs, might be 38's,the exhaust stuff will work except you need a wetter pipe, the 1050 uses a .055 and the 1200 a .070,the 1050 probably has the old style stator, you could aquire a 1200 stator and cdi and it should be plug and play at that point,i've got a fresh set of 40mm keihins comin off my virage tx 1200 if your interested
