    Smile slt780 vs sltx

Looking at both my wifes stock 1996 slt780 except for minor port clean up and wiseco pistons, rides so much better,is almost as fast well not quite,as the 97sltx .Is the ride better due to hull diff.? they look same,or is it ride height. The slt stays planted, the sltx hull is real slick and wobbly feeling ,with either 1 or 2. onboard almost feels top heavy ,is it due to hull diff?or higher seat?just wondering if anyone else had noticed this??>Marvin

    The hulls are identical.

    ...is it ride height?

The SLT stays planted, the SLTX hull is real slick and wobbly feeling, with either 1 or 2.
On board almost feels top heavy...
    ...higher seat?...

If the 96 and 97 SLT hulls are identical, then the hull was originally designed for the Fuji engines and the pre-97 top deck.

Different sponsons, ride plate, or pump wedge?
    Different fuel tanks?
    Different total dry weights?
    Engine weights?
    Different seating positions?

they are the same. They weight and where the motor sits may have something to do with it.

I own both a 96 SLT780 and 97 SLTX, you want the same feel, install an R&D 650 intake grate.
The 780 probably has the stock seat and the SLTX, the touring seat (humps), swap the seats and see if they feel different.
I have guys tell me they feel lower and closer to the water with the stock (flat) seat and feel higher and in less control with the touring (humps) seat.
Mine both have the touring seats so I don't know about this one.
I think with the raised seat it feels much more ergonomically comfy from the knees/hips to the foot wells but I guess that will make the bars lower to your legs.
I guess that's why I have UMI steering...

the sltx feels real slick and wobbly compared to wifes ski,i mean ok not like a waveraider wobbly, but it hunts for a set in water at lower speeds ,cables tight no slop in steering both have wedge in pump ,i'm thinking seat might be the answer.putting weight up higher and causing this, thanks>Marvin

Strange...I have an X45 and a SLT780 and it's quite the opposite with mine. The SLT feels loose and fun and the X feels planted.
