Unhappy Is this Mechanic BS'ing me?

To make a long story short -

    94 Polaris SL 650

Took the ski in for carb tuning and rebuilding. Bought the parts online and brought them in with me so it would be cheaper.

$300 for rebuilds + $150 for needles, seats, misc that didn't come with my rebuild kit. Sounded good to me.

Still didn't run. Replaced CDI box, didn't fix it, the mechanic bought a stator for it. But didn't charge for CDI box.

$415 for Stator NOT installed. Sounded fine with me.

Talk to him now, and the latest is that the Bed Pan bolts (Engine mount bolts) are loose, and he has to pull the whole motor to tighten them. Wants to charge another $500 for pulling motor and replacing stator. which would be $1415 total, unless the bolts are stripped at all and then he says he would have to machine them.

At $1415, I start the question the ski's value/cost to fix ratio, but I am pretty sure I will pay it, as long as I'm not being ripped off. I am prob just going to sell the ski anyway and upgrade, but any thoughts on the mechanics figures or advice?

Holy Stuffing,No...Wait ....that's what he's doing to you. One of the best tuners around for polaris only charges $50.00 a carb plus parts.(Watcon) $450.00 + your parts is rediculous.

Did the ski run before you took it to him? When did it last run? Is he wanting to charge you $415.00 for just the stator? Get that ski away from him before he Jacks you any more. We'll talk you thru fixing your ski here.
