Why isn't the oil filter changed at the 10 hour service?

I was reading the service manual for the SHO and wondering why the oil filter is not changed at the 10 hour service??
    Weird!
Kinda like having a shower then putting your old cloths back on.

I might be reading this wrong.

I had mine changed at the 10 hour as I thought it was prudent to do so.
$57.00 for the filter?-----OMG, I had no idea.
So what's the deal on the 10 off thing????? Yamaha or from Carl?????
PM me if you wish also.

The SHO oil Filter ( which was originally designed for the higher horsepower 4-Stoke Yamaha outboards ) is probably large enough that it doesnt "have to" be changed at the 10 hr mark.

Personally I would though. "just because"

Ive done EXTENSIVE research on aftermarket replacement filters that cross-reference to the OEM Yamaha.
Newly redesigned Sierra Marine filters ( good enough for the 350HP Yamaha 4-stroke outboards ) are schedualed for release in November.

May I ask what happened to the MALLORY one?
If your comfortable Carl with the one you speak off perhaps 'Gunna' and I may share a reasonable number to get a 'deal'.
One of the girls close to me has just bought a SHO as well, so perhaps we may be able to share them 3 ways????? Anybody else in OZ interested?????

Any news on the mirror block off kit yet please Carl???????

Gos, the MALLORY was the other cross refrence I found thet were readily available. I ordered in a dozen a but when I got them they were smaller than HO filter let alone near the size of the SHO filter so they were returned.

    Okay. Thanks.
Also just picked up on the mirror block off kit. 300 so it seems your money-----about 400 ours the way out dollar has plunged, so I feel I may give them a miss at this stage.
Someone needs to make a mold to heat press them out of plastic that could be painted to suit then bolted on. Could probably be churned out for a few dollars and sell for a fraction of 300US.
