NYC boating laws
just a few questions for anyone that might know. I search but found nothing helpful.
whats needed to operate a pwc in nyc??
what documentation besides registration is needed in case pulled over by nypd or the coast guard?

The regulations for most of the New England states are pretty similar -
you must complete a classroom course and obtain a certificate of completion.
The PWC itself must be registered, and you must carry the registration
information, your course completion certificate and a photo ID with
you when you are on the water.

WO wo wo miss lippy, be becareful what yo sayin..
In MA, you need to have a drivers license and keep proof of registration on your vessel..
In CT you need a boaters/pwc license, and keep proof of reg..
and when i asked this last time, in NY you need just a drivers license and proof of reg... so please for those NY folk, maybe one or two can chime in?
Definitely want to get it right or at least know what type of ticket I would get if i were to be ridin in NYC this weekend.

The safety cert is governed by NYS Navigation Law Art 5.
"punished by a fine of not less than one hundred nor more than two hundred fifty dollars"
"second violation, both of which were committed within a period of twenty-four months, such person shall be punished by a fine of not less than two hundred fifty nor more than five hundred dollars" (NAV 73-c)

I was told in CT 2 weekends ago that my NYS "boaters/PWC" License is NOT good.. I needed a CT. " PWC" License.
This was told to me by a CT state ENCON.

I live in another state. Do I need the Boating Certificate to operate my boat on Connecticut waters? The Safe Boating Certificate was designed for people who own property in the State of Connecticut, residents of the State of Connecticut or people who have a vessel required to be registered or display a Certificate of Decal in the State of Connecticut. If you live in another state and operate your vessel on Connecticut waters for more than sixty days in a calendar year, you will need the boating certificate. You will also need a Certificate of Decal (which is handled through DMV.)
I live in New York and visit Connecticut during the summer months. Can I operate my personal watercraft without the Certificate of Personal Watercraft Operation?
No. Every person operating a personal watercraft on Connecticut waters must possess their Certificate of Personal Watercraft Operation. In order to receive that certificate an approved basic boating course and an approved personal watercraft handling course must be completed and the certificate must be on board while operating the vessel.
However, Connecticut does have reciprocity with New York, Rhode Island and Massachusetts and will accept certificates issued by those states.
