    cool can

the older drag racers use to run a can with wound tubing inside and filled with ice to significantly drop the temp of the fuel they were running,i know the fi stuff runs a loop of fuel constantly returning to the tank so the ice might not last to long, but for mph runs would.just a thought...

the fuel cirulates to fast to cool it. it accually gets hot just from cirulating so much, ambiant temps, hull temps,etc.......

we thought about a "cool can" setup for the intercooler. cirulate ice water from a small cooler using a electric pump threw the ic.. i don't think the ice would last more then a few runs. but it should dramaticly drop intake air temps. compared to using lake water.

Exactly. It would probably benefit people attending events like Hydrodrags, where the ice wouldnt be required to last very long.

    ???

not to contradict anything but dry ice in water inside a can with about 8ft of copper tubing wouldn't be able to cool the fuel any even at the rate it moves thru the fuel loop???or any intercooler??pretty sure the dry ice in water would give you plenty of time for some mudbug runs on the intercooler

Dry ice is a different story. It could work and will last longer.

dry ice in water would make smoke.. and a lot of it.. old movie trick, also great for halloween effects.

    I say "DOO IT"
let us know how or if it made a difference.

I still think you would benifit alot more from cooler air instead of cooler fuel. IMO

    intercooler

on the intercooler thing with the pump idea.instead of a pump what about a tank packed full of ice and quick cutoffs for the inlet feeds when its time for the mph run,the quick cutoffs are moved and water routed thru the coolcan and ice to cool the intercooler,in a sense giving you much cooler water temp than the lake or river water you would normally push thru the intercooler.thats definately doable!!!!!

    exactly what im thinking also.
    a switchable system, easy enough.

a small 12 pack cooler like a playmate or something. using a livewell pump to cirulate the ice water threw the ic would drop air temp alot.

then flip the valve to "lake" for normal cruising..

texas lake water temp 85+ threw the cooler
ice water temp approx 40 threw the cooler

    cooler water = cooler air

and dry ice turns to carbon dioxide when thawed, so that would choke your motor if not vented properly
