1999 Pro785 Ski What Do Think?
Hello all, well I never heard back from the folks about my offer on the SLX but now a PRO785 has caught my eye. Whats the input on this ski? Will I have a hard time find parts for it? I understand there not many around and they came race ready. Please let me know. Thanks

I would say the Pro785 is one of the most exciting watercraft to ride/race if you want to stay with the Polaris line. The acceleration and handling is like no other in stock form. With a few modifications you will have yourself a handful in the water. I have 4 other these in all forms Stock, Limited, SuperStock and each one never lets me down on the excitement factor. There are some draw backs to these watercrafts. The first the ability to ride with a passenger. Iím not saying you canít do it but wonít last long. The second is they do require up keep / adjustments. These are not the type of machines that you just put gas in and go. Most of the Pro 785ís guys can give you some pointers. (CrazyA, Lugs785, Polarisracer166 and Watcon.com)
I see a lot if guys on here trying to build a 650 or 750 to make them perform better. Yes those 650ís and 750ís may reach a whopping 58mph after spending some big money. Itís not worth the time or money. One they ride a Pro 785 they will see what I mean. Just pick your self a Pro785 and be done with it.

I agree with polarisracer, the pro is the best by far. I have a 98 SLXH, a 97 stock 785 and a modified 785. I would not get rid of my 785's for nothing. I have had nothing but luck with my 97. It only has v-force reeds and red top carbs and pushes 7900 rpm's all day long. It has been a turn key boat since i have owned it. Once you have it, you would definately not be disappionted. But just like polarisracer said, it is not a 2 person ski. If you are looking for a family ski, this may not be your choice. If you want a performance go fast boat, this is your machine

yep what lugs said!
all set too purchase any pos ski for cheap. (nieghbor has some early 80's kawis ts. tought they were ok and fun.
son bought the 2000 785 and that idea pretty much went out the window. bought the 1998 within a few weeks.
1998 and 2000 both pretty stock. some skis can run us down (500 acre lake) but nothing accellerates as well.
you can cruise or run 2 up with practice but its ussually a swim lesson for rider. neighbor rode mine arround the lake solo and it threw him 5 times lol, but a huge grin on his face.full on acceleration requires both hands and a good grip!
yes this is a ultimate dads toy for sure. parts availability are ok, most guys here that have um, willing to sell surplus parts reasonably.
any questions? pm me
ps lugs how goes the wifey's ski?
