40:1 fuel to oil ratio is correct if the 2-stroke oil is being pre-mixed with the fuel.

If you still have and are using the oil injection pump system, then it will use about 1/2 the oil rate on average, and only deliver 40:1 ratio at high throttle levels.

Fear of pump failure and scattering bearings and/or other engine components.

I switched to premix 3 years ago when I grenaded my engine due to an old oil line cracking. In retrospect, the pump and all mechanical items were fine, it's just the shop that did the engine work before I bought the ski didn't replace the lines and I didn't know any better at the time. If I were to do it all over again, I might consider keeping the pump and simply replace the oil lines on a scheduled basis.

BTW, the correct mixing procedure would be 1L of oil to 39L of petrol. That will give you a total volume of 40L.

    Nope.

Take care of the oil hoses and clamps, and it is very reliable.

There have been numerous threads here and elsewhere on the subject.
