Through hull drive shaft seal how to install

Just curious how do you install the new through hull drive shaft seal?
Do you need to machine down the drive shaft?
how does it stay in place....does it also use the c-clip...or is it just free to move back and forward in there?
Does the drive shaft have any play in it?

Depends on which brand you get..If you get the Rad 4 I THINK you have to get the shaft machined a tiny bit..

A coupler clampled to the bearing and thru hull piece built into the ski..

    No C-Clip

Shaft is held in place due to pump presure when your riding, also the two orings in the bearing in the rubber boot grip the shaft as well. When i take my impeller off to tweak it i have to hold the driveshaft while a mate pulls the pump, otherwise the driveshaft will come with it..Machining the shaft for the RAD-4 unit is easy take the seal area down to 28mm, i did mine in the lathe at work took about 20min, slow steady cut heaps of coolant on it and im not the best machinist lol!! RAD-4 seal has been a great mod so far for me, im sure the LES Cooke unit is a quality unit as well... There are heaps of posts on the subject do a search..
