    Impeller question 1390 Lowell motor

Just put a Lowell 1390 together and it's on the rev limiter all the time with a 14x20 solas. Any one tried a VX-110 17x22 or 18x22? Will this fit right in,or is there machine work involved with drive shaft ect. Which is best size and which is best, a Solas or Skat-Trak? Any help please, tring to get dialed in before cold weather sets in. Also what about bending the 14x20 to 15x27 will that be better?

    I'm using a "borrowed" Impros 15/23 and I'm right at 7300 rpm
. Break the motor in with a smaller prop first.

15/23 on a VX or a Dyna? Just want to make sure what you're saying.

I just got the 16-24 Yamaha 110 starboard side boat impeller yesterday. Looks like the root angle is exactly the same as the VX ski impeller that impros has been re-machining to fit the gpr shaft for 450.00. This is already threaded to fit the gpr shaft.
Looks like a nice piece.. May be a couple weeks before i can get any testing time with it though. At any rate, for 180.00 shipped, its the ticket for sure. If the 16-24 isnt your pitch, just repitch and fly...

That sounds like a good fix and at the right price, please let me know your results. I think everyone with a 1390 is looking for a change in the impeller dept. that works and doesn't require alot of machine work.

Everyone one bends props differently. Just because someone calls it a 14-23 doesn't mean its going to spin like another 14-23. Also if your bending from the root it requires resizing the OD of the prop to fit in the liner if using a DF.

It seems that Lowell's porting seems to like 7200 to make optimum power. Try a 15-25 by either WFO/IMPROS (Fercho bend), Jim"s Performance or myself to start out with. 85mm nozzle. VX props are good for top end but loose on acceleration IMO. The DF has proven to be the best all around prop...

Sorry that is a Dynafly. It was bent by Impros. There is a difference on who bends it.

Good thread starter......All I know I run the VX on my 1500 single, I tried from a 14-22 all the way to 17-26 on the dyna fly rpms are there but the speed wasn't only 74mph. But with the VX pitched to 14-22 rpms are 7000 @78+. So thats the prop for that ski. Forgot who stated, but all props and skis are different, just have to test, test, test, till you find out. Ha noone said this would be easy.

Also I'm having a 1390 tripple done, I'm wondering what prop to use I'm wondering what the VX will do.
