OK, I give up! What is it? Where is it? What does it do?

The shop has been doing the servicing on mine and I have had 2 done on it. Problem is that they have just overfilled the oil tanl by a litre and a half. At least I checked it and removed it before it swamped the air filter.

I'm guessing I need to check this thing too now.

Couldn't find it in the manual. Better do a double check.

Ok how about someone just answers his question? thats what this site is for
Do you guys also take your car to the dealership whenever your owners manual recommends a visual inspection of your hoses?

I just did this to my SHO for the 10 hour service. It says to put 1.12-1.18oz after 10 hours and .20-.27 oz after every 100 hours thereafter. I used Yamalube Marine grease. It took about 10 pumps from my grease gun for the needed amount for the 10 hour service. Less if you are at 100 hours. I can't remember if it was the same for an HO though.

HO is the same amount of grease as the SHO.......I have to work in grams though, much easier!!...34g at 10 hours, then 7g every 100 hours or yearly whichever comes first. Most grease guns I've used put out 1 gram per stroke.....do a test, weighing a few strokes out to see what your gun puts out. Alot of dealers dont put enough in at the 10 hour......best way to check is to pull hose off bottom end & see if filled with grease. Alot of the grease at the 10 hour goes to fill the hose!
Also be sure to pump it in slowly so as to not dislodge the seals........any exccess will flow past them as the seals face outwards.

I too am planning to do this job in the near future. I have looked inside my new ( to me ) fx ho to locate the grease zerk ( nipple, here in the UK ) and can't find it. The diagrams in the owners' manual and the workshop manuals ( available online for fx140 ) are too small & basic to see properly. Could someone please give me an accurate simple description ( or photo ) re. how to locate the zerk ?

    cheers,

In a 2004 HO, it is located on the right side of the oil tank also covered by a rubber cap.
