SMOOTH (600+GRIT) OR ROUGH IT UP?? WHAT ARE YOUR RESULTS?
Seems that this keeps coming up and i get a 50/50 response most of the time on the results of speed gains on sanding smooth or roughing it up. What are your thoughts on this?
This is for the hull only, no other parts.

I sanded mine with 400 and saw no speed gains but it help with the handling. The ski was sucked down in the water too much and the sanding helped lift it out of the water. (05 1300r)

I just beach mine on the rocks, it works pretty good. No noticable speed gain though. I wouldnt advise this trick.

I am guessing that one problem is that most people who have done anything to their hulls have sanded as well as other "things" all at the same time - then went out riding some more. In that case you never really can attribute what mod or "thing" gave you what % of the gain or the loss. That is what happened to me and i will never know now.
So if you angled the plate, and sanded the hull, along with maybe hole filling - then gained 3mph, well how much of the 3 went to the hull sanding or did the plate give you 4mph and the hull take away 1 to = 3???
I guess this was a bad poll---sorry, i will go eat a crayon now
