As far as I know Mel never did any work on the OEM modded carbs, only the regular/billet Buckshoot carbs.Your Riva's will be the better way to go, or better yet pick up a set of Novi's

i know novi's are a lot better carb,i have full spectrum's on my ski know that is what it came with when i bought it,i know a lot of people don't like buckshot carbs ,just trying to make them work better, who know may use them down the track on another project

Are you talking about the mod he did to the n/s area to accept mikuni style ones instead of the n/s that originally came with the buckshots?
I never got around to finding out but would like to know as well. I have another set of carbs that the mod has been done to. I just needs these ones done.
As far as performance of the buckshot carbs...I love mine...it takes a little time to set them up but once you got them right...you had better hold on!!!!
These are Buckshot BRM 50mm carbs on a Yamaha GPR motor.

The only mod I know of is where the n/s area was machined to accept mikuni style n/s instead of the ones that came with the buckshots.
Modified one on the left...stock one on the right.

found this on another forum
If you have the Buckshot carbs with the standard Mikuni needles and seats, you have the upgraded carbs. If you want to make them work even better, I can have Mel Miller remachine the bombsites and the air horn. This modification drops the detonation in the cumbustion chambers by about 50%.
