Question Advice welcomed on my 96xp build.

My goals are more acceleration oriented than speed I guess. I would like to hit 60 and get there in a hurry. Can this be attained with a stock pipe? I have read a lot about the solas xo and x1. From what I have read the xo is a lighter pitch that would required the 88/85 nozzles to get good thrust out of it on the top end. The x1 works better on the stock pump.

    My planned mods are:

buckshot head with 43cc domes @ 165psi or so
    micro tac
either modified stock airbox or F/A's
mill 5mm off the cylinder side of the exhaust and smooth inside of exhaust
either stock nozzle with x1 or 88/85 with xo

Which prop/nozzle combination would be better for top speed and or acceleration?

The ski currently does 57.6mph GPS completely stock after I replaced just about the entire fuel system and cleaned the carbs. I want to avoid raising the rev limiter and adding a pipe for reliablity reasons. I figured the head and arrestors would give me a decent TQ increase to spin a steeper prop.

You should be able to get real close to 60 with flame arrestors and a head. Fly's or Prok's make the most HP...no need to spend your dollars on anything else.

Listen to this guy, he's been there, done that... He can be an ass at times but that comes with age.

He got the head from me. It's my old buckshot head.

Out of the 3 choice props with stock nozzles, which is best for acceleration on his setup? I know my heavier GSX liked the 15/23 over all with the 17/22 not as fast on top 2nd best & I didn't care for the X0.

    X0
    solas 15/23
    skat 17/22

What about the rev limiter? Is he going to be on it with the head,f/a, rejet & prop?

Thanks ou812 for the advice over the phone, I really appreciate it! If anyone has advice about the props I would greatly appreciate your input! If possible I would like to keep the stock pump/nozzles.

If that's what you want to doo then keep the stock prop. There isn't any better.

Give it a run like he said. You might be surprised.
    OR
    skat 17/22 or solas 15/23 with F/A's & rejet.

you can get to 60 on a stock head, flame arrestors, xo prop, 85/88 nozzles and a pump wedge provided it is tuned properly. i personally know of 2 skiis that are running 60 gps.
