    Oil/fuel ratio?

I need to know what ratio of oil to fuel to put it.

It has been so long since I've put fuel/oil in it I dont remember.

    I premix the two so...

for the xl? 32 to 1

    32:1 = 4oz/gal
    40:1 = 3.2oz/gal
    50:1 = 2.5oz/gal

    Sea-doo
    40:1

    Yamaha
    All but 800 & 1200pv 50:1
    800 & 1200pv 32:1

    Kawasaki
    50:1

    Polaris
    40:1

    Tigershark
    40:1

Why does it differ between makes if I may ask? i coulnt do 50:1 on the XLT?

well they try to match the premix ratio to the original oil pumps max output capability '' why a Polaris is 40 to 1 and my yami non pv is 50 to 1?? but I just run 40 to 1 in both my Polaris and yami

I wouldn't go with less oil like 50 to 1 in a pv motor ! 32 to 1 is what I would run

Could It cause a blown piston/ring running 50:1 on the XLT?

well the xlt PV motor is supposed to premix at 32 to 1 so 50 to 1 is a lot less lubrication
I wouldn't risk it! it could cause a seizure , a crank bearing or other moving part issue

Well that may explain why I had a blown piston. I found some notes that I had, and I have been mixing 50:1 for about 30 or so hours....

bummer! that's almost less than 1/2 the oil it calls for

That brings up an interesting question: Why does the PV oil pump puke out more oil than the non PV?

I think it also depends on what type of oil you use as well. I have a PV motor and run 40:1 using Amsoil Interceptor. If I were using regular dino oil I would definately be using 32:1.
